Nothing comes out at the start of a print
The printer starts moving but the first few lines or the whole first layer are missing.
Also described as no first layer, starts printing in the air, skirt missing, first lines missing, no extrusion at start
Try these in order
Most likely and quickest to check first. Change one thing at a time so you know what fixed it.
Nozzle not primed
Filament oozes out while heating, leaving the nozzle empty.
- Add a prime line or purge line to the start G-code.
- Print a skirt of two or three loops.
Nozzle too close to the bed
- Raise the Z offset slightly.
Filament retracted at the end of the last print
- Check the end G-code doesn't retract a long way, or add extra priming at the start.
