Ringing and ghosting
Ripples or echoes of edges and letters appear on the wall just after a sharp corner.
Also described as ghosting, ripples, echoes, rippling, vibration marks, waves after corners
Try these in order
Most likely and quickest to check first. Change one thing at a time so you know what fixed it.
Printing too fast for the printer's frame
- Lower acceleration and jerk (or square corner velocity) for the outer walls.
- Slow down the outer wall speed.
Loose belts or frame
- Tension the belts so they twang like a low guitar string, and equally on both axes.
- Tighten loose frame bolts and eccentric nuts on the wheels.
No input shaping
Klipper and recent Marlin and Bambu firmware can cancel out vibration.
- Run input shaping calibration if your firmware supports it.
Printer on a wobbly surface
- Put the printer on a solid table, or a heavy paving slab on foam.
